Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year
With Christmas fast approaching and another successful year coming to an end, Superstructures found more than enough cause to celebrate. Following last year’s Christmas day out in Cambridge, featuring an eventful punting tour along the River Cam, this year had a lot to live up to.
The chosen destination for Superstructures’ 2016 Christmas celebration was London. A city full of impressive structures, and bars. Upon arrival in London, our first destination was a combination of the two, Duck & Waffle.
Duck & Waffle is a bar & restaurant located on the 40th floor of 110 Bishopsgate. It was completed in March 2011 and stretches 230m into the skyline. The double-glazed lifts provided an entertaining mode of transport to the top, particularly for those with a fear of heights.
Our journey across London, to our next destination, was jazzed up by Santander cycles, Ubers and a Bavarian Beerhouse pit stop. This amusement was a prelude to the main event, Hint Hunt. We split into two teams of four, with each team getting 60 minutes to climb a mountain of puzzles and mysteries in a tiny room. The goal is simple yet challenging: get out in time!
One team escaped. One team didn’t. Congratulations to Craig, Darren, James & Simon for escaping with just 28 seconds remaining. Fortunately, the other team were eventually freed from their room, moments before the prospect of a London office became a reality.
A celebratory meal followed, featuring traditional Argentine cuisine, beer & wine. The victors celebrated their win. The losers celebrated their freedom. The celebrations carried on long into the night…
