Superstructures Brings Civil Engineering Services In-House
Locally based structural engineering business, Superstructures, has extended its offering to its clients by adding an in-house civil engineering design capability to its portfolio of services.
The move builds on the existing service offering made to its clients as an outsourced function and enables the business to now enter a new phase of growth, where the team can take a more considered holistic approach to both the structural and civils design elements of a project.
James Potter, Managing Director of Superstructures is delighted with the news and said:
“This is an exciting move for us as a business and elevates our offering by enabling us to deliver a fully co-ordinated structures and civils design capability. This not only allows us to play a more active part in all the infrastructure elements around the construction process of a project but also enables us to get involved in a project at a much earlier stage”
Superstructures will now be able to provide flood risk assessments and sustainable drainage strategies which are now intrinsic during the planning process of many projects. When combined with earthworks modelling, they can also determine the dynamics of a site becoming viable at an early stage.
Jim Rudd, who has over 40 years’ experience working in the civils industry has been appointed as Head of Civil Engineering for Superstructures. He will lead the new team which includes additional new recruits, George Westgarth and Luke Lockyer, who have 20 years’ combined experience in the sector, and have all worked together prior to joining.
“Together Jim, George and Luke bring a wealth of knowledge to Superstructures and with all the management and co-ordination now under one roof, supplied by one team working collaboratively together, this will ensure that we can deliver the best result for our clients.” James added.
Jim is excited about joining the Superstructures team and said:
“One thing that attracted me to join Superstructures was the importance that is placed on sustainability and the work the team has been doing from an embodied carbon perspective. I am looking forward to integrating this aspect proactively into our civils and drainage design whilst working closely with the structural team to ensure the best combined outcome for our clients going forward.”
